As some of you may have noticed many users dropped several points in the rankings. This is because the logic missions which previously have been valued at five times the level have been changed to one times the level. In other words level 18 is no longer 90 points but is now 18.
Well, I don't think this is "fair". I mean the first 5 logics
can't "worth" less than basic 1. This isn't "logic" :p
Either remove them or value them better, like let's say
x2 or x3 each. So all together give 1k points, something
that looks fair for a whole mission category.
Still, it's nice for HTS to be both a fun place and a tool...

yourmysin, if they were removed then we would not get these people bitching about not having emblem/hacker rank/whatever. And personally, I think they are very funny.
I don't think they should be removed because they're a good challenge. I do somewhat agree with memoric, though. I don't care who's winning, but I think it's fun to challenge yourself and then got a 'reward' for it. It's fun, and educational. I would like to see them worth more than basic 1 (just because if you have to value them, at least make it proportionate). I don't have a very high rank, but I, among others, am proud when I figure out something completely new. And... it's nice to be able to see it; so, points are a good idea. :)
--Thanks for the site; I love it.--

oops didn't mean to post nothing lol I'm new as u can tell, so dont take my comment sireosly if it's absolutley bogus
but if every singel mission was worth only one point then it would still give every one a clear idea as to their ranking, keep the emblem/hacker rank as a general idea as a to where u are in the missions.me personally don't care about points I'm hear for the sole purpose of learning.

No, it's alright like now, the logic missions are just fun challenges, and the basic ones are "real" missions (basic 1 is the hardest :p it took me 2/3 days when I began learning the internet)
anywayz, it's alright like now :p
Been wondering what happened to my (already low) score :D
As i see it, it's for the best. After all it's not really fair to get that much point for those missions :)
yourmysin you know me? How can you say to me
"memoric, you are one of the reasons the missions
are now lowered", do you know that I'm one of those
who "bitching" for no mission-points at all? I only
said that since there is a point system make it right.
I even gave an argument, a whole category with 28
missions can't give a total of 391 points. What
was yours? Except from insulting me?
Crystal_Bearer, well said :) At least one got
what I mean.

ohh thats not good...

Retarded decision if you ask me, I worked my ass off just to find out that retarded q's about Samuel L Jackson give me less points than basic 5... bullcrap.
I agree that they needed to be lowered but this is insane.
It's made the "elite" rank a little more exclusive though.. Which by definition is right :) I've done 94/98 of the missions and still only ranked "Hacker".
Seems like a good thing in my eyes.
By: TheMindRapist - 11:37 am Wednesday April 23rd, 2008
Yes it is a good thing, anybody whining about it doesn't deserve Elite.
By: GTADarkDude - 11:57 am Wednesday April 23rd, 2008
Great. I think I just lost about 1000-1500 points. :P Can't you just give some points based on the difficulty of the level, in stead of relating them to the number of the challenge? I understand Logic missions are less worth than the missions which involves hacking, but why are programming missions so many points then?
Because the programming missions are generally more time consuming / difficult.

GTADarkDude: They're harder to spoil and require decent knowledge of a language. Also notice how there are no articles except for the first 2, which are relatively easier than the others.

I understand. Too bad for me, my programming skills kinda suck. Can't make a lot more than simple calculations or cin/cout (in C++). Guess I'll just have to work on that. By the way, do the IRC missions give any points?
By: TheMindRapist - 11:35 am Thursday April 24th, 2008
Do you guys whining about this even think about what you are posting? GTADarkDude, you are looking for an easy way to get points since you can't program. How about actually learning a language and coding something.
Learning to complete the challenges, what a novel idea...
Thing is.. you might have lost 1000-1500 points, but so has everybody else. It's not going to affect your ranking if it's been removed from everyone since most people ranked higher than you are likely to have also done the logic missions?
It makes sense to give them less value since it takes a lot less effort to solve Logics 23-28 than is does both Programming 6 and 9, yet (on the old system) they're worth more points.
I still think logic missions for the most part should be deleted. If new ones are posted they should require an understanding of coding or circuit design.

I remember when I first came here and only the very highest people in the rankings had Hacker which was the top rank. And because of that I was very motivated to learn and try to become one of those top people. But when I finally made Elite I was disappointed at how easy it was. And so many people had it as well as having the hacker emblem. The rank had lost it's meaning. So I think it is much better this way.

I have a very simple solution to everybodys problem... If you think you're a good enough hacker to deserve more points, give yourself more points by hacking into the site and changing it... I personally dont know nearly enough to do so, and that is why i will not complain
By: TheMindRapist - 07:43 pm Thursday April 24th, 2008
yeah. now everybody needs to know how to hack and program rather that just figure things out (which is still a part of the whole purpose)
By: Crystal_Bearer - 11:47 pm Wednesday April 30th, 2008
@elmerfuddied
Nice way to put it. It is true, though, that I'm not trying to go above anyone else (as we all go up or down). In fact, I'm fine with changing the requirements to become hacker or elite. I just think that they should be more balanced. Say... 2pts/lvl. I mean, that makes them worth less than most of the basics, but at least gives them some worth. I mean, you are even required to finish the basics before you even start them. But... personally, I think they should be ranked indiv. according to difficulty (if that's even possible in logic).
Excellent idea. I'm just starting out but I'm not here for points, so I'm not going to be the one bitching about losing a few points that mean nothing. I'm here to learn, not to compete.
