Hey everyone!
It's been a long time since we've updated much and we are soon going to change that. A lot has been going on behind the scenes to rejuvenate Hack This Site, and to bring you so much more. We'd like to share some of the plans with you, but first some background.
Hack This Site is old in a lot of ways. It turned 20 years old in 2023, but the code is also old and so are the challenges, even the server design is outdated. This organization has always been a volunteer effort and never anyone's full-time job, which meant balancing working on Hack This Site alongside a day job and a personal life. As the code, servers, and content became increasingly outdated, this balance became impossible for most and extremely challenging for the rest. Time, finances, and resource opportunities never fully aligned to refresh and update everything -- until now.
We will have more details to share soon, but the first one is that we expect to complete a server migration in the next 2-3 months, ending in February or March. From there the recode begins and a lot more will change pretty quickly: new website, new challenges, return of the forums, and so much more.
