If you are talking about hardware(not necessarily a computer), I think I like ENC28J60 controller connected thru the SPI interface to a PIC from 18F, 24F, 32F series(I am an Microchip PIC fan not an Atmel AVR).
Why I chose a ENC28J60 its because it gives you the possibility to make a pocket size Server(it supports 10BASE-T).
