Unwanted Logging Out.

Hts expires its users sessions (or whatever) after around 10 minutes, which really fucking sucks for browsing forums.
I make the suggestion that some way round this is found.

You can use a cookie editor to change the expiration date of your cookies if you want. Depending on your browser, there is a good cookie editor for Firefox in the tools section of HTS. If you're using a different browser, there are other programs.

It's indeed annoying, but I'd rather expect the devs to act on this "problem". You cannot expect every user to be fed up with it, and/or change their own cookies to fix this...

*ouch*
I'll be working on the cookies issue eventually - atm I am trying to fix the current bugs (not just annoyances).

I've gotten EXTREMELY annoyed with this in the past. I had written up an in-depth article on how to crack password hashes in JTR and submitted it to HTS only to, 2 seconds later, realize that I hadn't copied it to my clipboard. My cookie had expired, and I lost all of the article.
Here's some sites you might be interested in:

best i can say is write it in a word doc. save it... then copy and past it into a submit thing

hello...hacking website...editing a cookie should come easy to most of the user. And to those it doesn't it would better start to now. Just my 2 cents.

Same thing happens to me, every time I log in:
I'll login and it'll say "thedotmaster", I'm logged in.
Then, I'll click on a document and it'll say "You aren't authed - Log-in". So I login again.
And then I'm fine.. It stays logged in for as long as I use it, it seems.
Annoying but mehh...

Ok, this is ridiculous, but there's an easy solution.

Code: Select all
javascript:window.location='http://www.hackthissite.org';x=document.forms[0];void(x.txt_username.value="yourusername");void(x.txt_password.value="yourpass");x.submit();

Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Properties
Then enter that for the location

I hate that it's come to this point, but just a quicker way to log in.
