Thanks, I'm glad most of you find this helpful. I plan on updating this thread sometime this weekend. I will be including some details about programming and hacking have great synergy.

Thanks a lot, Ninjex! I'm *very* new to hacking, and very keen to learn. I've done a little reasearch over the past couple of days, and going to start learning python today. I literally had -NO- idea where to start, or any direction until I read this. Not many other sites or places I've viewed so far aren't too friendly to noobs like myself. I haven't asked any questions yet, I'm just reading and reading before opening my mouth so I don't appear to be an ignorant bellend. My plan is to reasearch everything/word/abbreviation I don't know to understand lingo when reading threads. I'm running windows 8, I don't understand Linux yet, so I'm going to go read up on it to get a better understanding and why it's used. Like I said, I'm completely new to this and wanted to thank you for giving me advice, direction and basic knowledge on where to begin.

This depends on the person and their skill set.
A person who has only programmed in functional languages would be more adapted to Haskell than those who have not, so it will appear easier to them. With that being said, just choose a language and go with it.

I was speaking in general, both Ruby and Python are scripting languages where the interpreter does a lot of things for you, Java requires more knowledge of various parts of programming to be used correctly, meaning a more difficult learning curve. As said, it was advice to switch them and if it's easier for TinkerMike93 to learn Java, then by all means.
