With the whole faith thing, my stance is that you have to have faith in the Lord to gain a testimony that he exists. Its not tangible or certain proof, but personal proof, as I have mentioned elsewhere on the forums. Its something someone has to gain for themselves.

PS. Contention is never going to convince anyone of anything, so lets try not to make this debate heated.

I saw Jesus in my toast! I believe now!

Really? You might want to talk to your doctor about that. Hallucinations aren't usually a good thing. ;)

It's okay. I just saw this psychologist and apparently it's because there are thetans trapped in my body.

Psh, thetans? We all know our fears and doubts are caused by Leprechauns. Get real.

/me wages pointless jihadist war against believers in thetans, killing millions in the process and halting the advancement of the human race

To what I've read, the consensus back some 2,000 years ago was that the earth was a flat circle. Hence, it made sense when in Luke 4:5 Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the earth from a high mountain (in Israel, presumably??? Lol).

That said, the Bible probably got it right to the best knowledge of the time. I wouldn't try to use the Bible to chase some sort of genuine scientific theory way beyond what people of those times were capable of.

So...if I am at -100% belief, how can I get back? After all, god has proved to me he doesn't exist. I don't just not believe in god. I believe he does not exist.

P.S. See how annoying that is?

P.P.S. I think you read incorrectly. I have -100% belief, not 100% belief.

P.P.P.S It's spelled 'eventually'.

annoying?

Someone isn't just going to blindly worship a being they don't believe in, and saying you are wasting your time is no way to get others to agree with you.

@msbachman: If you are trying to take metaphorical things literally, it is easy to find fault. I personally think scriptures have a lot of figurative speech in them. I believe the authoritative books of scripture are as applicable now as when they were written, you just can't take everything literally.

As I have seen through several threads on this forum, he is convinced that science explains everything and that there cannot be a God. Getting aggressive because someone has differing views from you isn't going to help them see why you believe the way you do. You have to explain your reasoning for believing the way you do so that, maybe, they will see why those beliefs make more sense.

A very rational view. Taking things figuratively is a good idea.

To the other guy: Apparently you are not listening to me. I do not have 0% belief in god. I have -100% belief in god.

Honestly there could be floating rats and I wouldn't believe in god. Science has nothing to do with it. It is simply obvious that god is fictional.

Sure, science is a great piece of evidence. But the human mind is even more evidence.

Draz, no need to get worked up about it. You've tried your best, I'm hopeless. You can have fun in heaven.
