I believe there is a version of JTR for OSX. It might be a .tar.gz? I'm all Windows, sorry if I'm wrong..

A very small visit to it's website, tells me there is indeed a JTR version for OS X.
Just check the website: http://www.openwall.com/john/
I see JTR Pro1.7.2 for OS X, but that's about the only one I can find in 30 seconds. If you search some longer, you'll probably find more releases, or you try to get the Pro version.

Yes, there is one for $60. There is a free version for Windows, but not for mac.
I mean, I'm not stupid. I checked the site.
Are there any other suggestions?

It keeps giving me 'No password hashes loaded'
I have the dir set to my JTR folder and have a .txt file with the hash in there... Been searching all over for info on how to get JTR to crack this thing, no luck.

Edit: Hmm, I think John doesn't automatically come with the MD4 cracker... I have the file (optional download at the bottom of the page), but does anyone know how to get it into JTR?

If you don't install Winpcap right after installing Cain when it asks you to install it, Cain won't work.

I was able to complete the mission simply by cracking the password, but was there supposed to be more to it? The description describes dropping the database or one particular user so I was expecting more.

IIRC you are just aiming to get Admin for a friend, who in turn will do the DB screwing up.

But tbh the "hacking" stops once you have admin access - it just becomes fun.

If you want it to continue through more, that is, the actual dropping of DB's and stuff like that, you won't find any missions on HTS.. Instead, you can go to this hacking site.
