I tried posting this awhile ago in the "Debate" section, but I couldn't post it w/out moderator approval. I have no idea if the mod is gone, dead, fapping, or whatever. Anywho, the title really explains it all, what is your take on it?

I denied the topic because a debate needs to have an issue raised, and you should open it by presenting a semi-formal, structured argument one way or the other. You should have gotten a message about this. Simply asking "What is truth?" is more suited for the Philosophy section, which is where I am moving this thread.

Also, I was gone, fapping to dead things.

Hopefully this will get some lively discussion going...idk how many here are philosophy buffs.

Anyway, I think that truth is that which corresponds with reality.

That should have readers asking "what, then, is reality?" Reality is that which is perceived via the senses common to all humans.

So, if I were to, using the common definition of "red," i.e. being that color which we label red, call a red object blue, that would not be a truthful claim.

Anyway, poke the fuck out of this line of reasoning. You asked the question in the spirit of Socrates, so I'm guessing that's what you're looking to do--pick apart what I say until nothing but the unadulterated 'truth' is left.

Following that line of thinking, other senses such as infared vision aren't reality because they aren't senses common to humans?

Sorry, I'm feeling quite nitpicky today.

"Truth" is a disgustingly broad term, and you could write a term paper exploring dozens of shades of meaning. Could you narrow it down to something less vague?
