A Place To Start/Beginner Resources

As fairly new to the scene hacker with not very much experience in the field, I was hoping if someone might, perchance point me out some resources for beginners in this field.
I have a good knowlege of HTML, and some (very) basic Python skills.
Internet tutorials/eBooks would be very helpful at this stage, as would be people more experienced pointing out some programming languages I should learn.

Sincerely,
Captain Ubiquitous

Great! First step get read of all the proprietary drivers/software you have.
Then go to http://ocw.mit.edu/ and start learning EECS.(Learn to program)
Lastly you must make as much as you can a week of http://projecteuler.net/

Go to our challenges and start doing them! You must do at least one a day. If you have a specific question please ask it! :D

You could also look over this article:A Beginner's Starter Guide and try doing various missions on HTS. Also look into SQL injections. If you get stuck, come to the forums and read. There are plenty of hints and suggestions to get you through. If that doesn't work, post a question and someone will be along to answer you.

I think he means 'rid' not 'read'. And i also think he's being sarcastic.. The best thing to do, do HTS missions. Read through the forums. Read articles, learn, read books, learn. And then maybe learn some more.

Until you finish learning Python? You will never stop learning.

You sir, have just made it to my favorite quotes list.
Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning. -Rick Cook
