Does Kali Linux make me a skiddie?

Hey HTS community,
Okay, so to start of, I am completly new to all of this (Hacking/programming) and have not really come to the hacking part, but am still learning computer languages like JS, HTML and PHP.
I love to browse around on these forums and kind of hear new things, one of them being "Kali Linux".
I did some research to what it is, and found out it has a lot of hacking tools, but since I am new to this, does it make me a ''script kiddie'' when and if I use this OS?

Goatboy, I guess if that's a reference it's lost on me. Short answer: no, not necessarily. Using Kali Linux neither makes you a great hacker nor a skiddie. It's how you use it. If all you do is run the tools, without ever reading the source code or trying to improve/understand it, you're a skiddie. If you're using Kali because it's a good collection of tools and you learn by using them, then that's different.

Not sure if goatboys trolling or giving good advice..Is that the sweet spot? 8-)

Personally I'm over the whole anti skript kiddie group think.I think it makes people that want to follow the process, stall, thinking they're doing something wrong by getting practical experience. At least that's what happened to me.

If you want to play around with applications, knock yourself out. Most of them are industry standard, i think. Just don't be delusioned by the media portraid frantic typing/button clicking hacker street cred shit.

Not at all. See above. Especially all the new people lurking around here. That's solid advice.

Following "the process" is exactly what a script kiddie is made of.

When I use a tool used on Kali Linux, and I follow the process. how the tool does what it does, and try to understand it, to maby improve the tool, or make my own similar tool, doesn't that make it a way of learning rather than using the tool, and thinking, whatever, as long as it does what it has to do, I don't care how it does it?

In the end all that makes someone a skiddie is the difference between wanting and not wanting to learn. At least, that's my opinion. There should be a term for people in-between skiddie and hacker, how would you describe that larval stage?

How will using any sort of "operating system" makes you skiddie?

Its just a *nix distributions, with pre-installed security/hacking tools.

In other words, if you use any OS, and install these tools, will you be called skidde, because you are using a OS with plenty of hacking tools? that makes no sense!!

Instead of re-inventing the wheel, its always good to know, what the tool is doing over target.
