Kaspersky is certainly one of the best options.

Malwarebytes is by far the best antvirus/malware program out there. However this should be used in unison with other products as well.

These days new threats emerge every day, and knowing what is friend and what is not can be difficult. So I truly believe that there isn’t an internet security suite made which is 100 percent effective. But it's possible to be secured for some extent.

Well, from my point of view I would recommend use windows, always inside a virtual machine. If your computer is powerfull enough is the best choice if you dont pretend to play games. Use snapshot as backup.

That is my case. But if you re gonna use windows as main OS, i recommend avast. However I never tried malwarebytes.

Good luck!

What I know and What I use I will suggest you Windows Defender is the best free Microsoft Antivirus Software. Still, I'm using this software didn't get any issue about it and also didn't yet have any Virus on my Laptop. Windows 8 and 10 you will get by default otherwise you can download it free from Microsoft Websites. Hope you will also like this Antivirus Software.

I prefer ESET. Very good at blocking malwares.

On my Windows 8.1 partition , I use malware byes and Avast Internet Security and have for about 6 months.. I like the little Web button that gives me a heads up if I head into "bad" territory. Virus-es love windows. I would get rid of this partition except we need to use MS Word products at times.

I recommend Debian as a virus protector...
It's better than anything out there that you could EVER install on a windows platform.

One other thing I do is I never save anything on my computer. I have a portable hard-drive that I plug in by usb, mount, save and exit. If I need something I copy/paste to my desktop, use it and then delete it. I do this on both partitions. Keeps everything nice, safe and clean.

TotoalAV has been very good to me over the years, but yes you do need to learn what to click and what not to click when it advertises to you, which is usually only once or twice a day in my experience.

On the other hand, Over here you can find the review on best Antivirus https://techloris.com/best-antivirus Most people seem to recommend windows defender and TotalAV. As long as you're not going on any sketchy sites you should be fine with that. Personally, I prefer TotalAV and Avast as a paid option but whatever you choose make sure to get an Adblock browser extension.

([msg=107673]see Re: Best Antivirus[/msg])

This thread is quite old but I want to provide an update this 2020. So far, I've been using Microsoft Defender alone without the need of using any other third party antiviruses such as AVG, Avast (got flagged as PUP due to ads and promotional stuffs inside the app), Kaspersky, TotalAV, etc.

In my experience, Microsoft Defender has improved a lot and is getting constant virus definition updates. It's best partnered with malwarebytes (free) to scan deeper for malware inside your system. However, if you still opt to disable Microsoft Defender https://freesoftwaretips.tech/technology/disable-windows-defender-permanently-on-windows-10-2020/ and use third-party antivirus softwares such as Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Norton, etc it's okay and a matter of preference. But again, if you have low-spec device, running Microsoft Defender natively uses much less system resources over using third party antivirus softwares.

Just my 2020 two-cent tip and update ;)

Best,

Gerald Bartolome
