Wow, took me some time to find out the answer.
I found pretty quickly the mechanic, but I wasn't using the command in the right way.

Keep getting this message and I dont know how to manipulate my command

If you are trying to use server side includes to solve the challenge, you are on the right track: but I have limited the commands allowed to ones relevant towards finding the password file for security reasons(because there will always be that one person who decides to execute some rather nasty commands). So please manipulate your code so that it is a little more pertaining to the level.

Very Cool!

Haven't heard of SSI before, but learned everything I needed to know (for now) through that link that was shared previously (https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/howto/ssi.html)

Once SSI was understood (I'm sure I'm on a most basic level still lol), you just need to take your time and refresh some basic Unix commands. understanding *orthogonality* in Unix commands is important here .. (at least that is what made it click for me!)

Good luck yall and thanks for the lunchtime fun :D

This was doing my head in for an hour (very nooby here). I had no problem identifying the ssi command (and UNIX command) needed to get list of files but everything I tried got the 'incorrect, but close command' page. I went through a lot of the comments understanding what I needed just not exactly how to approach - the comment which made it click for me was

"3) Understand ls can accept relative pathnames. Understand relative pathnames (esp ..)"

And opening the file in browser was the same as we have already done before this point, no issue - I hope this clarifies this somewhat for everyone who, like I was, is very close but not quite there.

No matter what I input into the name area, whenever I try to "click here to view file", the .shtml file always appears blank (no "Hi name, etc etc"). This has happened even after trying different browsers and computers. Has anyone else run into this issue and could explain why this is happening?

Hello all!

This one was quite tough.. but rather easy once I understood it. Someone (forgive me, I forget who because I read many posts on here to figure it out) said something to the effect of "Very good. Now combine them." And another person said "Use the shortest command possible." These two are really the key, in my opinion. On to the next one! :D

Okay, so I feel like I'm stuck where a lot of people were before. :|
I am using SSI commands like I'm supposed to.
I got the list of files like everyone else.
I am unable to view any files in this list.

A couple hits that seems relevant. That the command we use can be given a directory. We view it the same way we're viewing this webpage. But for some reason I'm missing something.

Is there anyone I can pm so I don't spoil it for others :?:

I decided to try myself with googling around and here what I got on my first try, much love

But I'm disappointed because I can't get in....
I tried everything I got for the web, there are many answers but Im mad on myself that I don't get it by my mind without finding answers on the web and there are a lot of right answers :(

Every mission takes me to google some hours + hours to find correct submissions.
Ofcourse I can find ready answer but then I won't understand a sh*t>
