Re: Realistic Mission Subjects

HackThisSite cares about everyone's opinion here. The "Comments & Suggestions" forum wouldn't exist otherwise. That said, caring about your opinions/suggestions and agreeing to do them are two different things.

Re: Did the Graveyard disappear?

The Graveyard is visible to all users regardless of login status right now. No one actually posts in there; it's where we move topics that don't belong anywhere else that don't necessarily deserve deletion.

Re: SSH and Bruteforce, is my box vulnerable?

Everything is to some degree 'vulnerable' to bruteforcing. That's because bruteforce attempts go through the standard means of authenticating and aren't discernible from the real thing until it's apparent that the login attempt is being repeated to a high degree. As far as what you can do to stop pe...

Re: Movies

downloading copyrighted content from a site that doesn't have permission to use it isn't legal, but DVD ripping for your own purposes is fair use.

Re: Haha if you want a laugh, read this.

Ignorance can be funny, but you don't help the situation at all by not helping the guy learn. Try telling him what's wrong about his preconceptions and see if you can help him learn something.

Re: Javascipt 3

I don't really understand why anyone would want to use a calculator to do this mission. The code is javascript; run the javascript and combine a bit of what you know about javascript from previous missions. It solves itself.

Re: Brute force help

It sounds to me like you're wondering about directly bruteforcing a login interface. This is typically a really poor way to circumvent site security and is very obvious to any competent system administrator. It's really only helpful if you know that the keyspace on a login is very, _very_ small, and...

Re: Php Include Exploits?

This is a gaping remote file inclusion vulnerability. PHP supports the use of protocol specification in file names, so you could just as easily put in 'http://www.somewebsite.com/path/malicious_php_script.extension' and that script would run the code. pro-tip: never include any unsanitized variables...

Re: gateway connecting

Sounds like you're typing the IP address of your router into an explorer window, the prompt for which is only asking for either local files or remote files with a protocol specification in the given argument. try opening your web browser of choice and going to 'http://192.168.0.1'
