Re: Where to start?

Do you want to hack a website, database, iKettle or hack to cars EEPROM to give you more MPG? Only you know the answer to the question. It's same thing if you were to ask "How do I use Photoshop?" It's not as clear cut and there's no definitive answer. It solely depends on what it is you w...

Feels like I'm gaining ground

Took up the C|EH course. It's good if you want to cover the basics, and by covering I mean skimming over all the tools used. I'm not one for just accepting things I'm told. I say basics because after delving deeper and deeper into this world the C|EH course could not sit on it's own as a security qu...

Re: Is using Google advanced searches safe?

It's good to get the general consensus out the way everyone feels about it. Haven't done it for ages as the notion wore off quite quick. I know it's useful and have learned something from it.

Re: Scammed

Technically the site didn't scam you. The rouge user did. Much like it's not Craiglist or Gumtree's fault if you get robbed in the street going to buy goods.

Tell me you didn't ping -t a webserver?

Re: good first major programming project

I wrote a few android apps before I could write java. I had an idea for them and put it to work. I think you either need to have folk telling you what to write or have a good imagination for an idea that hasn't been done or to make something existing better.

Re: Is using Google advanced searches safe?

I trust Google as far as I could throw them. If they don't like people using advanced search parameters, then they should disable their usage. I feel I'm not set to gain from the info I find if it's so publicly available. If someone wants to leave their root user login details in a text file on thei...

Is using Google advanced searches safe?

Been hitting the studying pretty hard on this one via my coursework in pentesting and I keep getting distracted when I read a term I'm not familiar with. The term Google hacking came up in the coursework and naturally I delved into it more. "Stumbled" across a document on the net on advanc...

Fell foul to eBay fraud

Feel utterly embarrassed by this today. Selling a game download voucher on eBay bundled with the console. Sold it and the person paid. They emailed asking for the code to be sent and I obliged not really thinking about it. A few hours later loads of emails from eBay saying that the account was compr...
