Re: Private land

Traffic on a network LAN or WAN needs a destination address. When you request data inside to outside, you provide the destination by way of typing in a URL or IP address. Your router at home knows who made that request so then when the reply comes back it knows who requested it and sends the data yo...

Re: My Nigga

Just spotted this. I literally folded into myself like a Hedgehog in utter embarrassment for the creators of this piece.

Re: School Oppression??

I'm a school admin and I kind of sit on the fence on this one. I want to relax things a bit, however, my hands are tied. You have to understand that heads will roll if anything compromises the data security on the network. People will actually lose their jobs if anyone gets in and steals data to dis...

Re: The Dark Web

I actually went on there to do a bit of research on hacking forums. Kind of thought there would be some repository of 'real deal what they don't want you to know' info, however, that was a little noobish and naive of me to think it would be that easy. Instead I got to click on some random onion link...

The Dark Web

I heard about the Dark Web years ago. I always just thought it was something people made up or dared folk not to go to. I've always been a bit curious to anything that wasn't media outlets and mainstream TV. I visit LiveLeak often, and none of that stuff really bothers me any more. I love horror fil...

Re: Private land

You have to understand how the traffic on the net and networks travel. Understand the OSI model and it's relationship to devices on a network and wide area network. What happens when different data is sent over the wire. I think using analogies is fine, however having a foundation of TCP/IP protocol...

Anon VPN

Looking around for an ANON VPN to use. Loads to choose from and some recommend either Mullvad or TorGuard. Both similar priced. I use Unblock-us for alternate netflix regions. Looking to get shot of Unblock-US and go with someone else. Loads of chat on the wire about US based VPN services not being ...

Re: The lock

Why not just ask "In a router, what stops people from getting into your network from the outside?" If that was the question then it could be that looking up Network Address Port Translation or Network Address Translation would be a possible answer. So using your analogy, the lock on the do...

Re: what is the answer to this security question

My theory on hacking comes from a wee quote I read once. "The quieter you are, the more you hear" - I can't remember where I seen it first. Might even been here in someones sig. I get the impression that true Hak5 followers are quite happy to tell everyone they hack. Wearing t-shirts and u...
