Ok so based on that I'm doing it right, But when i hit apply it errors out. The details just say to move the partition to the right to change the size which I have already done by this point. what's making gparted hard is that when i boot from the cd, and it loads, I can't find anything about resizing partitions so i'm trying to find some walkthroughs now

Thanks guys, I'll give Wubi a shot and see how it goes. I'd totally get rid of windows all togther except I have to have it for school (12 years out of school and back in college) Which doesn't make sense since my next class is working with various OS. Oh well, Thanks again guys.

Ok so, I'm trying to repartition my hard drive to run a dual boot with linux and XP. I know that gparted can partition a hard drive without losing any data.
