by the way, factorials are usually high numbers that won't fit on normal int variables.

I'm guessing that that laptop has windows xp/vista... As you have physical access to it, you could boot using a Linux liveCD to get the SAM. There are different apps to bruteforce it, I would recommend L0phtCrack. There are some other topics here with further info.

A good computer supports Linux... you don't need any special/modern hardware (unless you're going to use it for bruteforce attacks ;) )
