HackThisSite.org News: Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, an American holiday, was founded on the genocide of millions of native Americans -- plain and simple. It is then something to be truly thankful for that this holiday, originally stained in blood, has evolved into one of the few that, at its core, remains mostly good. Friends and relatives assemble together, celebrate their familial bonds, and (usually) enjoy one another's company.

It is also admittedly despicable how some businesses taint this holiday, requiring their employees to work where otherwise not critically needed. Furthermore, it is equally wrong how, just one day after giving thanks for what we have, we trample and fight one another to buy things we do not need from corporations we should not support. And people are paid poverty wages to endure and manage this hysteria.

This Thanksgiving, continue the goodness of the holiday by refusing to shop tonight, and tomorrow, and trying to actively force businesses to allow non-essential employees to be with their families. In this era of long-unseen polarization and animosity, togetherness ought to be a virtue people of all ideologies can agree needs to be pursued. Indeed, this Thanksgiving, do not only be thankful for what you have, but also do your part to ensure that this outcome happens so others may enjoy the holiday, too.

Happy Thanksgiving.
