So, HackThisSite (and RootThisBox) attended CarolinaCon '08, and had an awesome time. We attended many events and even held one of our own. RootThisBox held an event with three donated servers, and the competition was a success. We had a few people compete, and we would like to congratulate m0untainrebel on winning the competition. Of the events we attended, some included ZFS on FreeBSD, Layer 7 Attacks, Rootkits, and Hacker Trivia. All of these events were pretty awesome and informal, and the convention was a huge success. Plus the parties were amazing.
We would also like to make some shout-outs to some people who made this happen:
* Kage, wired, pacifico, kussik, apples, Neme, m0untainrebel, and many others for attending and representing HackThisSite and RootThisBox.
* Greyhound for making us feel like our muscles were raped, and causing delays that screw over entire itineraries.
* My friends who drove me (Kage) to Pittsburgh to catch my Greyhound, and obtained a flat tire in the process. Much illegal non-sexual fun was had within the car. Also, thanks to coincidence, which allowed for another of my friends to be in Pittsburgh soon after I arrived to drive me (and a friend she was expecting) home. The whole transportation thing for me (Kage) was an experience and story of its own.
* Vic Vandal (the host of CarolinaCon '08) for giving us a ride from the Greyhound station to Chapel Hill.
* Neme for hosting Kage and wired during Saturday night, and driving us both to the Greyhound station and giving us a place to hang out on Sunday.
* Everyone else we met and hung out with.
Yea, I wish I went to. I'm in the U.S. but plane fair is pretty high and I'm not even old enough to fly by my self and get a hotel room, and my mom wouldn't spend money on plane fair to go to some "Stupid hacking shit!" yea. yea!. That's what me moma done said to me.
