help with Kismet on ubuntu OS

So It's been alot of years since I've messed with Linux. Got rusty on every thing. Any way, I've installed kismet and when I try to run the program it gives me this error:

Launching kismet_server: //usr/bin/kismet_server
Suid priv-dropping disabled. This may not be secure.
Done.

I think I need to edit the user it's trying to load? How do I access the configuration? I went over the documentation I could find and was finding any help there, Hoping some one on here uses this and can lend a hand. thx.

You are running it as root right? It would seem that a program like this would need root privs. I have not used the program though.

yea, I think maybe the install got screwed up cause I used the built in installer. I really just need a program to get wifi information. BSSID, ESSID, etc. so use with aircrack-ng. I'm open to alternate programs if there's better.
- tried reinstalling from command line. Pretty sure it's in root i just need to change the user id? Im not really sure and the daft documents arn't helping lol
