As a beginner to hacking you should buy a laptop that fits your everyday needs more. You will be able to hack to just fine from a beginner level with any somewhat decent machine.

If you want to become a hacker, you have to buy each of us one of these: Acer Aspire V3-771G If you don't, you're doomed to fail in your quest to become a l337 h4xx0r m4573r =[. Also, in the hacker world, Unix rules. Mac seems to be more for video and sound editing, has less of a community, and generally does not have as much software available to it.

Look for the Os anything newer than window vista is alright but don't go to windows 8. Look for the cpu and graphics card, cpu should clock at least 2.5ghz graphics try nvidia on bored graphics that should be able to run games at normal settings and memory about 8g DDR3 Harddrive 500Gb if your talking about Hacking then install Backtrack 5 r3 for OS.
