Please don't ask others for the password. It is something that script kiddies do.

A whole 2 days huh? Just to let you know since you are getting into the upper realistic missions expect it to take longer than that to figure some of them out.

Okay, I got really stuck. I SWORE I had it right. I got to where it was SUPPOSE to show the broken images, but it didn't. So here is just a tip. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE IT RIGHT, VIEW THE SOURCE. New firefox doesn't display broken images, so I found that hint VERY misleading. invisible pics  Got my hash now though  thanks limdis 8-)

Hi, i've just completed the mission but i have a question about it. I was able to crack the hash with jtr, and just to make sure what type of hash it was i used the --format=md5 flag to verify that it was md5. Now, my question is, why is john the ripper able to crack it in less than a second while trying on online md5 crack websites gets no results? Aren't this websites supposed to have much bigger rainbow tables that the small password list that comes with JTR?
And the other question, when i see the log after cracking the hash i see "1 guesses: 123456 - pepper", so i thought the word s***** comes second on the dictionary jtr uses, but when i go an check it (im using kali) its like in 200th place. So i went ahead and deleted the word from the passwordlist and the john.log and john.pot files and tried again to crack it, and even then it finds the hash! how could this be if its not on the wordlist?

I'm using the command john ~/file_to_crack
And according to the online documentation "This will try "single crack" mode first, then use a wordlist with rules, and finally go for "incremental" mode.", but i dont fully understand how single crack works.
Thanks for the help!

You got the hash type wrong.
The glass is neither half-full nor half-empty; it's merely twice as big as it needs to be.

I read up on Apache and figured out what I needed to do. I hit an unexpected bump, it says the file doesn't exist which doesn't make sense since it should exist. Any hints?
Edit: Never mind, I figured out my very silly mistake.
