Good evening everyone!
HTS has been quite boring for the last few hours so here's something old: The Morris worm. One of the first widely successful internet worms released which infected 10% of the entire internet back in 1988.
Actually a pretty simple thing, it mainly used weak passwords, a buffer overflow, and a debug functionality to spread.
Worm's source code (reconstructed I'm assuming): http://www.foo.be/docs-free/morris-worm/worm/
A very good explaination of exactly how to worm works: http://www.snowplow.org/tom/worm/tour.html
What do you think of this worm? Terribly simple for the damaged it caused? A revolutionary step in the advancement of computer security? What about Morris' punishment for it?
