Hacking a webcam

I am REALLY n00b.

P.s Nothing illegal here, it's for my computer at home. Just need to spy from college to decide who of my brothers is stealing my stuff.

Set up a webcam and remote desktop. I can't believe the term "hacking" is being used here.

Mkay. Let's see here. In reality, it'd be pretty hard to configure the computer's camera AND a remote desktop environment to always be on and feeding back remotely to you (like said above). A more realistic approach would be to set up an actual surveillance camera when wanting to do surveillance things. You could set up a surveillance camera and feed it back wirelessly or to a local drive. Wanna be James Bond style? Get one small enough and physically mod the computer to be able to hide the tiny camera inside of. Put it in a non-conspicuous place and retrieve the feed later. You can make a nice little project out of this shit.

look into zoneminder. It's free and it works with a load of cameras both network cameras as usb (local) cameras.

Well the thing is he said he needs undetected stream.. Having a camera route into the USB might be a little suspicious IMO.

I never set it up with a build-in webcam. But I guess that zoneminder can do it. It can also be set up to record when there's movement.

Also: for some reason I just assumed the webcam he was talking about in his first post was an usb-cam.

Alright, if you are trying to catch something you dont want live stream. You want motion sensitive triggered pictures to be taken. This setup is powerful enough to detect sunlight changes in the room and will not only ensure you catch your man, but you can also pull the proof from your phone.
