Interesting story i came across. I was always told not to mess with monitors because they hold a charge after they're unplugged, but I had never heard of this. I wonder if he was just removing the power supply or trying to take it apart.

Full details haven’t been released nor do we know why he opened the power supply to begin with.

Seems he was trying to take the PSU apart, probably to salvage the fan.
This is why you don't ignore warning stickers.. :\ darwined.
Shitty way to go though. And sad that authorities are now "urging" people not to try and salvage old parts from a pc.. the problem wasn't salvaging parts, it was ignoring warning labels and opening up those parts to get a silly fan.

any time your dealing with caps or anything that has some you have to be shore that their diss-charged and i doubt it was unplugged from the wall.

i deal with used PSU all the time and i highly doubt it possible to do what happened off one that's unpluged
