What program do you all use?

If you are new to HTML I would suggest Notepad over Dreamweaver. It will help you learn better.

I would LOVE to say that I use butterflies, but...

For Java, Notepad++.
For AutoIT, built-in editor.
For PHP/HTML, webhost's FTP website's default webpage (yes, I realize that I'm terrible).
For PHP/HTML which is not actually part of my website, usually WordPad because Notepad's Undo function is terrible.

If I'm using Windows - Definitely Notepad++, hands down the best editor out there. (HTML, PHP and CSS). I sorta like Dreamweaver but I learned with Notepad++ and Notepad2 so I have a softspot for those if on Windows.

If Linux (which is what I mainly use) Geany for HTML, PHP and CSS.

Some Photoshop but mainly GIMP for Design.

if I make new sites, i usually use eclipse with the php-plugins (if it's more than a one-page project). Editing older sites, I prefer doing in notepad++. The reason I use eclipse is because I find it easy to have a filetree in the program and it has the append-feature (ctrl+space ftw). An other ok-one is scite, I used it for a while, but like notepad++ better.

I use UltraEdit for 5+ years now. I like it because it has integrated FTP client. Also have very good search, auto-complete (good for new Devs) and lazy old Devs. You can do your own custom syntax highlight for a lot of languages (few of them: HTML, C/C++, CSS, Java, PHP,...) and completely custom (environment) toolbar. Well, it has so many things you might be overwhelmed at first. But i don't think i will ever use any other editor.

Started off with just Notepad. Still do use notepad sometimes to practice.

At home I'll mostly use Notepad++ or I found a new free program called "PageBreeze HTML Editor" that works good..

At college I'll use Dreamweaver.

Yeah, I need to be use to using notepad just for work. On your pc you can have any editor you want and prefer it over anything else. However, if you need to remote on to a clients server and make some code changes sometimes you only option is notepad. You could always d/l something yes, but sometimes you can on the servers because it's not authorized. On linux I use nano. Easy to move around and just got into a groove of using it. Plus it has syntax highlighting so it's not as bad as just notepad. I do prefer having a black background instead of white though.
