OK I figured it in 1 try and wa a bit disappointed because I wasn't expecting it to work...
I do not know whether my question would be considered a spoiler so I colour it in black, below :
Isn't the *something* considered as NULL ? And if so, how come I got through the isset() test ?
Edit: removed something ~fas

This was a big spoiler to me too, I think a mod should remove it as I guessed it straight away from this. I looked into why the answer was accepted, but would have preferred to got there on my own (aside from a subtle nudge from other forum members).

Reply in black:
Try testing isset() with a *something else*. You might be surprised. Also check into what an empty GET or POST field actually returns.

yep. figuring that if (!$_POST['myvar']) (SPOILERS!!! Don't read unless you're done) does not evalute the same as if (!isset($_POST['myvar'])) since *e'rry buddy luv it*.

Edit: removed spoilers. ~fas

*e'rry buddy luv it*.
