I am starting a thread where members can record there experiences and history of HackThisSite as it happens, as they remember it, and what people's feelings are regarding HTS's future. This is not to be a changelog, a join list, or anything like that. This is to be serious postings in paragraphs.

Then I remembered I had it all still compressed on another computer. I'll be putting some of it back on the internet and I'll edit this post with a link later.

Hehe... I got one for you. How about on HTS's last birthday when somehow, either through a prank or a glitch I became an admin for half an hour and was the only user ever to be threatened with not banning, but complete deletion from the user table. lol

Yeah... that was funny. So... maybe I should get a little notice in Karec's post under administrators. lol.. just a thought.

HTS history? I never ever thought this would happen! Where is Xec anyway? The feds must have cut him loose by now. I remember when he got nailed. That happened after Genome, fetus, Xec, and I went to DEFCON in Vegas. Things were getting pretty radical here on the site. There were some seriously smooth hacks at HTS, 0 day, alot of Anarchist, and leftist in general. I had a ton of fun with this this site, the people here are second to none, even too open or collaborative at times. The data base is most likely still very compromised by the feds. (Sorry kids.) They got really crappy with us during Bush's second election. Some stupid things were said and these stupid things were further taken out of context by the FBI. They came knocking at our doors because an arrest would have been shaky. They had 0 forensics involving a purported RNC server disruption but still felt animate enough to send us a message in person.The FBI was checking out everybody it seemed, there was even a syndicated cartoon poking fun at them for hassling old ladies at the time. I was contacted 2 days before I seen the FBI by some reporter out of Washington at CNN, so I knew the media was on it. The feds did not seem to like that limelight, but I'm pleased it came to light. My biggest displeasure of this occasion was watching Xec get burned in the long run. I think he was marked because of his infamy. All of you should learn from Xecs distaste for firewalls, proxies and lack of general obfuscation techniques at the time.

The old crew is still lurking around here. Some of them went on to college, defense contractors, strip clubs, assorted gov. agencies, military, and prison. Others, like me, with old careers took a sabatical from HTS and stayed out there on the fringe where we are comfortable. Some will never come back. The ages vary wildly. One day you could be going over code with a 14 year old programmer that is better than you or chatting up a 45 year old Hacktivist about Emma Goldman. HTS has pedigree, some may be dubious, but all in all HTS has a world-wide hacking affinity that is well established in many "areas".

You can get into alot of trouble here, with the law, and with hackers. You can also learn alot here, stay out of trouble and make alot of friends. When I first started I had fun cold-calling Xec on his cell. I can still hear the gasp and the WTF from that call. Xec got a little better controlling his info after that, but it was still funny as hell. Thats how we met. Some of my favs around here are: Genome, Smoothoperator,Pedastriol, Blackbird, Spiff-O-Matic, The_Anarchist, Xec, fetus, Mele, Psychomarine and a few others. Some of us have met up in Chicago, Vegas, and Sturgeon Bay. We hit the 2600 and the C.A.N. network scene in Chicago after much fun at Xec & fetus's pad a few times. We had the now infamous Las Vegas Trip to DEFCON together, camped in the Rockies. Take a left while going west out of Eagle Colorado and don't stop til you see lots of trees and mountains and NO people, good for the soul. Genome came up here and lives down the street from me. We have a good time when his girlfriend isn't in his hair. Kats gone, but my kids keep me busy. As you can see HTS got more than a little personal to me.

I am a little disappointed that the new people in charge of the database have munged all of my old account data and my avatar. Not a big deal though, but I can say it would have been nice to come back here and find my account as I had left it; That is the true mark of excellent database admins. I'll bet the ladies like the pink though So I'm back off the fringe for awhile. If any of you want to have too much fun just email me, lol. I'll go find my favorite Anarchy avatar now....
