It is simpler than it seems, i was typing the wrong command.
If you having trouble just look over basic unix commands again.
i hope it isn't much of a spoiler.

i all ready now what is command for level 8 but i dont know how i can change the command for level 9 .if any help with that pleas help me??

you know the command to go down one directory from the last mission right? now think very litteraly about what i am about to say in basic 8 you solved the mission by going down one directory, now you need to go down 2 directories, back to the basics directory, then you need to go back up to /9 if you combine all those commands in that order it will work. but the commands you have already got are all you need

ZOMG! I officially feel really, really stupid...I crawled 12 pages of these hints going in circles because I was overthinking the whole damn thing!

You really are handed this mission on a silver platter... I really can't even think of a hint better than the simple answer:
Use the code from the previous mission, and the path handed to you in the Mission 9 description.

DT isn't even needed because you have the path you want. Now just make that path list its contents. Was that too much of a hint?

it took me 2 nights to figure out basic 8 all because of the STUPID freaking slash!! sorry. . . but i'm delighted that it took me all of 10 minutes (and of COURSE reading this forum) to fiddle around and figure this challenge out!!!

and then level 10 happened lol

im getting an error wrong password message after i type in the password for lvl 9. i even tryed to go back to level 8 and re acquire the password for that mission and even the level 8 password is not working anymore. its not that i cant find the password file its that its giving me an error message every time submit it

I just did them both and they are working fine. Go through it all again slowly to make sure you aren't just making a blonde moment mistake.
