I am looking for a way to transfer files over internet that is highly encrypted I believe that I have read that SSL is broken and I am wanting to Move large files like this. Would encrypted file containers prove effective in keeping the data secure even if intercepted ? Also what would be A good password encryption method to keep them safe as well ?

i don't know too much about ssl but since no one else has responded yet, i'll take a crack. I think that technology is for sending chunks of information in real time and probably isn't needed in your case. How about using AES or similar strong encryption to encrypt the information and then send that directly to the recipiant?

IF you feel like exchanging ASCII arrays, let me know ;)

That's what I thought but it was suggested that I only use SSL for my transfers but since large files would move very slowly I wanted to transmit everything in torrent format with direct link to the person that is receving the file. I normally use Twofish or Blowfish as my encryption scheme as AES is very widly used I thought it may not be aduqate by itself. All Points of view are welcome & thanks for current information.

If you are looking for a secure way to transfer files, and you dont trust SSL (FTPS) you can take a look at SFTP (SSH).

The idea of FTP is good, but FTP is a insecure protocol. It is still a great protocol, in the sence of being easy to use and well known. But if you have something you dont want your wife/the feds to sniff, it's obsolete.
