Online Control of a Windows 7

Hello. I need help: I need to control over the internet a computer, a Windows 7. It's my mother's, and she asked me to help her clean the computer of viruses. Now the thing is that she is a computer illiterate, and she would never be able to do this on her own. This situation made me come to this forum, hoping someone will have the compassion to help me. I am thankful to whoever decides to reply to this topic.

Try looking up VNC. With this, you can remotely control her computer. She downloads and sets up the vnc server while you download a client. Set them up. Make sure she forwards her router traffic on the vnc port to her specific local IP, then connect, control, profit.

That's not going to work, she won't be able to do that. She isn't good at computers. Like, she just asked how to search an e-mail in her inbox while a "Search Mail" bar is. Right. In. Front. Of. Her. There's nothing that require no or very, very little configuration?

Tell her how to do it. Besides from physically going to her computer, I can't think of anything that doesn't require some sort of configuration.

Heh, going to try it then. Let the trainwreck begin! Oh well. Do you have a guide on how to set up the router? Or maybe a link to an adequate tool to do so.

Thank you for spending your time helping me.

It depends on your router. With mine, I go into the router config. Open a browser and type "192.168.1.1" and login. Usually the default is admin admin. Then from there, you need to find the setting that forwards all traffic on a certain port to her computer. Usually the setting is under application forwarding or somewhat. Whichever port the vnc server uses, set that port to forward to whatever her local IP address is (find this by typing "ipconfig" into a command prompt). Other than that, you could probably easily Google a tutorial on how to set up VNC servers and clients.

Probably be easier to explain to her how to use anti virus.

I remember helping someone using teamviewer, it's a nice alternative if you couldnt get the other methods to work for some reason.
