Recommend me new headphones please

I'm almost sure this falls under hardware. Anyways, my junky headphones broke. I needed an excuse to get new ones anyways, and was holding on to these until they stopped working. $40.00 budget, want something decent that will work. Nothing fancy needed, just something to use in general uses.

Would a gaming headset be a bit much for just general use?

$40.00 budget? That's pretty shitty if you're looking for good quality. My Dr. Dre beats were 150, and I'm pretty sure they're the cheapest they had. Anywho, for the money, id roll with Skull Candies. That might bump you up to abot $50. But they're pretty damn nice. No links right now due to being on my phone.
I also feel this doesn't really belong under Hardware.

I figured keeping your spending range around 40 and with a mic, might as well get something that would last you for awhile, and if you ever did want to use it for something more you could. But again, it was just a suggestion.

This is a good pair of noise cancelling headphones. I've owned a pair for a couple years with heavy use and no problems.
