I tend to use Dreamweaver for templates along with neatbeans that's the only php-supporting ide I know of that implements seamless Jquery code completion. The built-in browser is handy as well.

Gotta love ConText Editor, its extremely versatile in that you can get a highlighter for ANY language and you can create execution shortcuts. Right now I have it so I can execute perl scripts by pressing F9 and its so simple.

I like to handcode my websites because I feel like I learn more about HTML that way, so I use any program that writes in plaintext. For graphics I use Photoshop CS5, and I stay away from Flash.

When first learning HTML it is always better to use a plain text editor. That's why I like Notepad++. Built in FTP server.

I don't know if it's still out there, but a couple years ago I used metapad. Seemed to work well for me.

Notepad. I'm old school. I should probably learn how to use dreamweaver though cuz I probably waste loads of time manually editing all this code and when it comes to nested multiple nested tables I end up scanning through the whole thing trying to isolate one little error I've made and waste loads of time with that bullshit. I'm so used to using a plain text editor that its hard to adapt to dreamweaver now but I might as well just get it over with.

Even though many of you have already said it, Notepad++ is the way to go; as it is simple yet covers a vast majority of coding languages that are vital to web design. Since it is more "high-tech" than MS Notepad it is essential and not a large resource hog like Dreamweaver...Which is another story.

I do use notepad and dreamweaver if I want to do something fast that I don't know how to do my self then just look at their code. I am just trying to get good at just pure html and css as I am a noob so I wouldn't use notepad or take the advice from me.besides my websites look really bad
