Either way, instead of "suggesting" and giving the "option" of safe browsing, I don't understand why Facebook doesn't make it default behaviour. Web-Chat now works with Https, and as far as I know, so does everything else. Now that would really be a step in the right direction.

Pidgin Chat with the Facebook plugin fails when you switch to HTTPS, but I see your point. That's not at the fault of Facebook.

Are you hijacking this thread or asking a philosophical question?

Basically, doing whatever the fuck you want, whenever the fuck you want, however the fuck you want, preferably creatively, intuitionally, optimally, and, most importantly, passionately.

I prefer to use the term cracker than hacker, because then i have a chance to explain to people that I don't do bad stuff.

I don't think coining the word "cracker" as a bad hacker is appropriate in any situation.

I think it's easy to get caught up in using the word "cracker" defensively, in most cases just to say "Hey, I'm a good guy! Not a cracker!" It doesn't sit well with me because once that word is used, all assumptions lean towards malicious intent.

[you]But hey! That's the whole point![/you]

Yeah, except what of the hacker who cracks a password? Is he or she a hacker or cracker? The way I see it, if you really need to hold yourself in a positive light when referring to your internetz security prowess, just say "Good hacker/Bad hacker". It's one extra syllable, and saves you from having to explain the difference between a cracker and a hacker to somebody who could probably care less to begin with.
