Anyone know if Google's Chrome OS is out to the public yet?

I was reading their blog and can't find it out, but my cousin said that he had it or something, so I was a bit confused.

Of course if you wanted to, you could call it the Davidians!

I actually haven't thought about this much, but I'd like to try the live CD soon.

I've been meaning to take a look at it as well. I hate the idea of all my data being "in the cloud" but I'd love to see if it lives up to any of the hype.

I had Chrome OS in a virtualbox for a day or two a few months ago. I don't remember what happened to it though. I think it was right around the time my laptop went into sever depression. But anyways, i didn't feel like it was anything special. Just my opinion.

I tried it out for a few days, yet on my system (3.0ghz tricore, 6gb RAM) the only difference I noticed was a lack of a desktop =p. It's great if you have a low powered netbook, but impractical in any other setting.

I've switched to using mostly a "low powered netbook" (1.66ghz 1GB RAM), and I can't say Linux performs badly on it. ~7-9 hours of battery life and a speedy bootup.
