Sigh, when you use a program IE: an ftp client, you need an FTP server to connect to, you can PORTSCAN to see if the FTP SERVER port is OPEN so you can CONNECT to it...

Sorry, port scanners aren't normally used unless you are cracking. I misunderstood your intentions.
