Pertinent if you want to read it.

It's a very long time since I read that; I can't remember specifics.

Congratulations! By purchasing this eBook, you have taken your first step
in the exciting process of becoming a Master Hacker.

This sorta put me off right away.

I haven't read it yet, but from the short selection of topics, it's probably a re-collaboration of textfiles, grouped together in a pretty package for someone interested in "hacking" but not really having a clue as to where to look.

Maybe I'm being overly judgmental, I haven't read it yet, but that's my two cents.

Elite Hackers – These are the skilled hackers. They are the ones that write the
many hacker tools and exploits out there. They can break into systems and hide
their tracks or make it look like someone else did it. You should strive to
eventually reach this level.

I rofl'd. This guy is so full of shit.

Oh, look: more elite hackerness:

1. First the hacker would search for a target. A common tool used by hackers
is Angry IP Scanner . Download and install it.
2. Next the hacker would insert the IP range he would like to scan. If the
hacker was connected to a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) he would
scan the local computers like I have shown below.

EDIT: Oh, god, he's going into viruses. It's like hackforums in book form, but even more outdated. I'm going to stop reading.

Just from the title Underground Hacker's Handbook i expected quite a bit of fluff.

@sanddbox,

Lol at the malware comment. That chapter is nothing more than an instructional on how to run a program. No real hacking involved whatsoever.

I don't think the book is totally worthless but it skims over material whenever there's a program available to avoid learning the underlying details. I.e. skiddie stuff.

I wonder if they know how much we make fun of them. Brb going to search for hts therads on hackforums.

Hmmm, I found one page on HF about HTS but the only negative comment was that HTS is good for the kiddies (lolirony). I also found a thread where people talk about the solution to basic 1 as if it was actually a viable hacking method.

I say we make a collaborative effort writing a "stealer" that gives them fake info for awhile, and then wipes their drives. It'll help the Internet, the world, and their overgrown egos.

Keyword search for "hackthissite" turned up about ten mentions (in the titles). Some of the better ones:

I have tried to do some of the missions but I get past the 1st or 2nd level and they stonewall me. I have no idea what to do after I sit there an hr or so. They give you no methods or any help with how to solve missions for beginners!! Can some one help me??

Really want to know how to hackthissite.Org.....

Response: Which one do you need help with?

OP Response: Anyone who help me to helping in realistic mission?

/thread

"L337" L3v37 Us3r: Its difficult to make a account on hackthissite.org Ive tried 10 times...

http://www.hackthissite.org Has anyone ever hacked this website?

Response: yeah man, over a million people have..... not that I know of, but I don't really understand why you would want to hack it.

Quite a few more posts make passing mention of it.

One thread pits Omni (apparently the leader of the hackforum minions) against Monica (HTS) and some others in aa fictitious 'hacking match'.
