Basic missions password

As I start the 1st noobies challenge a password bracket appears. I tried using my own password, but it wont work. Also tried things such as HTML, w3csholl etc... Using firefox. Is this supposed to be another challenge?

Try viewing the source, and, don't post about missions here.
I would love to change the world, but they just wouldn't give me the source code!!

The challenge is to find the correct password. Don't confuse it with using your own which you use to log on to www.hackthissite.org.

It would be helpful to check the forum for Basic 1 first. Next time google before posting.

I had the same problem - I entered "HerpDerp" into the box and it gave an error. Then I figured out the objective was to find the password!

I just joined this site very recently still only on mission 4 but what has been said throughout the forums is true thier is enough resources and information on the hts website and throughout the internet. If you find yourself getting stuck google stuff and trust me like it says ont he forums its really much easier to leanr html.

How's this for stupid?

I spent an hour last night looking for the password for basic 1 - on the boards. I didn't realise that the post for basic 1 wasn't ACTUALLY basic 1, and scrolled through the code countless times trying to work it out. Nothing referred to the separate area, and I wondered where you were meant to enter the code at all.

Today, I logged on, went to the basic mission on the sidebar, realised my error and found the password in about 5 seconds.

So, I can pass the idiot test easily, but can't find the test. What does that say?

It could be worse. I also don't notice an obvious link back to the main site from the forums so I can see how you might do that?

i have taken a look at the first mission using google chrome and tried inspect element on the password button and field, i'm not sure quite what i'm supposed to be looking for but i assume there is a way to find whatever file the system checks your inputted password against. i have followed the links to learn html but have found only a small amount there on password fields, can someone give me a clue of where to start. I absolutely do NOT want the password but i would like to know how i find the file i have previously mentioned! thanks
