Friday, 10/1 LECTURE: Introduction To Linux

That lecture was a really interesting experience though. I think we all learned a lot, even the more advanced among us.
Despite some rather technologically inclined talk about bios & bootloaders in the beginning (which is still vital for a beginners understanding of Linux), i feel the lecture moved on to cover all the bases so that a newbie to Linux will have a firm stepping stone when migrating from Windows to Linux. Surly new users that come to HTS are interested in computer science and perhaps never have heard of Linux. In that case listening to this lecture will be an excellent starting point. Not only to begin their journey learning
about Linux, but also to realize how helpful HTS lectures can be. Goatboy & Thetan (they kinda took turns) did a great job!

How about basic cryptography? Hill and Caesar, along with some other simple ciphers.

Going on that, I've wondered what methods are used today by popular algorithms and what defines acceptable encryption. Also, popular methods used to break them could be discussed.

I think discussing cryptography would be an excellent idea! I would like to put my vote in for a lecture on basic cryptography as well.

Cryptography would be interesting, especially in the context of cracking software. Though that would certainly focus on algorithms as well.

Yeah, I think cryptography would be a good lecture. Maybe make it a little interactive. Show some methods, then be like here, try and encrypt/decrypt this.

I vouch cryptography and its use in 'cracked' and 'pirated' software.
