Can't connect to IRC server.

Maybe someone can shed some light on this for me. I've been trying to get onto irc.hackthissite.org via port 7000 or 6697. It will connect briefly and then disconnects with "Connection Reset By Peer" as the error. I searched Google for a solution, but all that I found was that the particular error in question is rather vague and doesn't have an explanation for a fix.

I've tried to connect via mIRC and XChat using my desktop and notebook.

Anyone have any idea?

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. You have to download a client program to use it usually. I think mIRC is the most common.

The IRC is a little buggy, but try port 6667 at irc.hackthissite.org and tell me how it turns out.

Download MIRC or xChat, do a /server irc.hackthissite.org +7000 (non-ssl is for pussies).

Also, the non-ssl port is 6667, not 6697.

I saw 6697 referenced in another thread. I guess it was a typo. I'm going to try to get on later tonight. I'm still at work, and then I'm headed to Guitar Center to put myself into some more debt. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

I mentioned 6697 in another thread. Occasionally it is used as an SSL port, but for HTS it's 7000. Good luck!
