C,C++,C#

C is called C because it came after the programming language B.
Some people find that kind of thing funny.

C++ is an incremented C Which would be D...
It was built to be an enhanced C with objects.

Incidently there is also a D programming language but thats beside the point.

C# is just microsoft being fucktards. It has similiar syntax and was created to aid MS in the fight against Sun Microsystems Java. As to why they chose C, probably a marketing descision.

I've been writing in C for some time, being the first language I learned (after english, anyway) and I'm wondering if there is a big, overwhelming reason I should learn C++. Is there something that I cannot do in C that I can in C++? Or are some things just much easier in C++?

C# is nothing to horrendous. I'd agree it's not a language anyone who wants to be serious about programming should have as their one and only option... however knowing it certainly won't dash your employment chances these days.

But, I certainly wouldn't rely on it alone - Anyone who is programming in C# should learn C/C++ concurrently or beforehand.

Both, or at least uncertain aspects. For some programs that are large enough to utilize OOP reasonably, you will use C++. C can be just as powerful and quick though.

Now, this doesn't mean C++ is easier. In fact, it will most likely be trickier learning the extra syntax for OOP and such.
