New article idea.

What is the nature of existence?

New article idea.

I'm thinking about making an article on Solid State Devices.
I don't want to waste my time making it if no one is going to read it..
So would anyone be interested in hearing about it?
If you're wondering what solid state devices are exactly, think about it this way they are incorporated in all of your electronic devices.
Here would be an example.
Your basic power supply, it's a DC (direct current) power supply. It takes that AC (alternating current) current that comes out of the outlet in your wall and basically goes through 4 devices. Transformer, Rectifier, Filter, Regulator.
Now wouldn't you want to read about how those 4 devices do this?
I won't go into specifics right now because I don't want to spoil the article.

Yup. Definitely. I'd be interested.

We're pretty lacking here as far as really low level electrical stuff goes, so yea, if you feel you want to submit such an article, please do.

when you said solid state devices the first thing I thought of was Memory Sticks... but certainly this would be an interesting topic.

I've often posed to myself the question. "If I were to be transported back in time to the dark ages, what future technology would I personally be able to replicate?"

TBH I don't think much of anything... gunpowder? a mixture of charcoal and saltpeter... what is saltpeter exactly? Forged iron and steel? Paper? hell how about fire... let alone basic electricity...

Hey some devices in the memory sticks are solid state devices to tremor77. It's made of a couple components that make up the component as a whole.

But anyways I'm sorry guys. I've been really busy with work, and I can't just stop my duty and do what I'm doing like you can in the civilian sector. So I haven't had time to write this yet, I've started but it's not finished.

Thanks for understanding.

lol, No offense but you say that as if its easy for me to tell my job to screw off so I can do a personal project. :]

You getting deployed? :( That, on the other hand, would really suck.

@tremor: Man that is a really good point. What technologies could we replicate? Me, personally? Probably none. My skills and education are a function of the digital age--completely transcending anything industrial or vocational. You don't even have to think of your scenario as "going back to the past," but potentially as "what can you contribute to rebuilding the future."

back to the OP: Personally, I would love some well-written material on low level EE. Its something my program at a university level seriously lacked, and it bothers me to this day.
