Pretty much. "You can't make an omelet without cracking a few skulls," or something like that.

I very much disagree. The means and the results are the same. The question is do the negative outway the positive?

In what way? Reviewing one of Kohlberg's dilemmas would lead me to disagree:

Kohlberg wrote:In Europe, a woman was near death from a special kind of cancer. There was one drug that the doctors thought might save her. It was a form of radium that a druggist in the same town had recently discovered. The drug was expensive to make, but the druggist was charging ten times what the drug cost him to make. He paid $200 for the radium and charged $2,000 for a small dose of the drug. The sick woman's husband, Heinz, went to everyone he knew to borrow the money, but he could only get together about $ 1,000 which is half of what it cost. He told the druggist that his wife was dying and asked him to sell it cheaper or let him pay later. But the druggist said: "No, I discovered the drug and I'm going to make money from it." So Heinz got desperate and broke into the man's store to steal the drug-for his wife. Should the husband have done that?

While it is nowhere near this simple, one could argue "Yes - human life holds more value than coin." The result is that her life is saved, a purely benevolent act driven by his love for her. However, the means directly violated the law, and the rights given to druggist under that law. Is differentiating between the two what you mean about weighing the "negative" and the "positive?"

the means and result are the same
the result is that the man broke into someones house and stole a drug which cured his wife.

yes

The most common example for means vs results is if you could kill have the world and then acheave perfect peace would you do so?
Means - killing half the world
Results - peace

My version is
means/results - killing half the world; peace
The issue now is are the results what you want

Yall have a bit of a skewed view of ethics. I am not an ethical person. The world moves how you make it, and how we all choose to live in it. You can either shape it to suit yourself, or live in someone else's world. If stealing the radium saves your wife but violates Bob's law, then fuck Bob, your wife will live. If you are the pharmacist, it making money is your goal in life, and if you intend to make it, then protecting your investment starts with good locks, a safe, and perhaps a guard. Ethics is in the eye of the person weighing the decision.
