The way you should start any hacking attempt is right clicking on the page and clicking 'view source'.

It's still wise to get a feel for how a site works when you first visit it.

notepad???

You do not need notepad for this. Just do like was suggested and right click on the page, then choose 'view source'. Look through it and you should find something that stands out to you.
