Oh, oops. I didn't do this mission. I just took a look at the file. Find a small chunk of plain-text and try searching google for it. Maybe ill try this mission, but hope this helps you.

I have just completed the mission which was frustrating but enjoyable. for those stuck at the null byte as I was for some time on the file check the url you are probably putting the null byte in the right place but is the address fully correct? hopefully this will be News for you. once you have the perl scripts you do not have to do any adjusting of them or programming if you don't have those skills just look carefully through them to see if you can work out the ID needed to login on that page, the rest should be a little easier and hints for it have already been posted. :)

Hi!

I have copied the script from m***r.c** and guessed the correct id, but when I try it in the m***r.c** I get always You have entered an invalid id. Can somebody check my script and approve my guessed id? Chomp() is not my case. Any help will be appreciated.

There is another way to defeat this lvl(other than the bruteforcing one).
will just tell this, try to use the null byte to see as many pages as u can.

Sorry if its a spoiler.

i found my old perl code for this mission today. I implemented a wordlist based cracker and as far as i can remember (and now you mentioned it again) chomp wont do what you trying to archive (i was stuck on this problem too) ...
Tip (i hope i dont give away too much): Think, what other very powerful possibilities you have in perl to manipulate strings. At least for me it worked that way!

If you are still getting wrong IDs ... send me you script i will have a look at it.
With this world there is no understanding, we belong their only to the extent, as we rebel against it (Theodor W. Adorno) --> if somebody knows a "official" translation for the well known german quote ... pls let me know!
