Connecting my nick to my HTS account

I've registered my HTS username as a nick on the irc server, but when I say !htb it tells me my nick isn't linked to a HTS account. I was using chatzilla, so this makes sense, but I can't seem to connect using the java applet. How do I connect my nick to my account?
