I'm taking computer science AP this year and the program language they will be teaching is java. I'm new to programming and that is said I have close to no experience. I was hoping that one of you knowledgeable people could subjest some resources for me. Should I buy a book or is there a website I could learn from. And if I should buy a book what book should I buy. Also I'm talking about a book for someone who has close to no experience. The only experience I have is css, html. and javascript. I just want to be really prepared for the class. Knowing I have one month left of summer, I want to learn some Java! I'm really excited about computer science! So please help me asap!!

Iirc, that class moves exceedingly slow.
If you're taking the first level next year, learning things now is going to make you very bored come class time.

Believe me, you can't learn java effectively from books.

Stanford University has an EXCELLENT intro to programming/java class available for free online. The lectures are available via a very slow Torrent, or on YouTube. Here is the YouTube playlist.

Once you finish the lectures and excercises you will be able to write basic and moderately complex applications. Unfortunately the ACM classes from the lectures are not widely used outside of learning environments. For me, the next step was to stumble through a book on the much-more-common Java GUI classes and learn the Form builder in Eclipse.
