Copy & paste? Also, the way in which a file is save is important, .txt, .doc, etc....

There is more than one way to complete this challenge. If you have a particular idea in mind in which you wish to do this mission, read through the posts in this forum. The questions you have, have been answered throughout it. How a file is saved is important to how it's viewed afterwards.

Just to add to Defience's post:

"How a file is saved is important to how it's viewed afterwards."

This is true on windows, on Linux less so, but still true. On windows your system registry maps out file extensions to particular programs. So for instance somewhere in your registry is an entry which states '.doc is to be opened with Word 2003' (its not written like that but you get the idea) this means that whenever a file with a .doc extension is double clicked upon, the computer looks up said extension in the registry and opens said file with its correct editor, which in this case is word 2003.

Now take this knowledge and apply it to what you are trying to achieve here. We know that web browsers show html files, so naturally somewhere in the registry is a key that specifies which browser should open .html files.

So regardless of what the actual content of a file is, if I save a webpage as 'my_cool_page.doc ' when i try to open it, Word 2003 will try to open it. Now, that should be more then enough information to understand how things work (sort of) :)

Thanks,

Bodsda

I'd like to enumerate the hints already given which I think would be of great help....

1.) Find 'something' that you need to change on the source.
2.) Figure out how to change that 'something' on the source.
3.) After changing that 'something', you need to change it back to what it was before in order to get the password.

MAJOR CLUE: Extensions, my friends, EXTENSIONS...

I don't think #3 really applies and there is another way to do this but thanks for the input for those looking for help.
