Stego 14

Thought id start a thread for this mission

but anyway, i got the key from the image wasn't hard and i was wondering if thats it or if theres more to it because it doesn't look like much of an answer more something you should work out lol but eitherway i havn't got an acceptable answer for it yet.

Lol don't worry i know thats not it, i thought it was odd that it was worth that many points just for that...
Anyway just gotta find out what the cipher is which isn't looking promising and where it is because i originally thought it was the name but now im having doubts since the name is only numbers unless it's only a made up cipher.

Your on the right track, however you need to look closer at a file to figure out how to decipher this.

For those who are stuck or new to ciphers check out some of this wiki article:

Since you've found the key already you should be able to rule it down to a few different cipher types. Read up on them, and one you know how they work you can easily pick the one you need.

You basically have it done, (stego part) you just need to decipher it

Big hint: its not too common. (Basically giving away alot of hints since this is a stego challenge and not an encryption challenge.) The decoded pass is not a real word.

BTW is there a way to see how many people completed this challenge? I remember you could about 2 years ago, but I don't see the page

Finally done- thanks very much travmanx awesome mission i reackon and to everybody else doing it- read all the plaintext in the image file carefully...

I know what the cipher is.. i've made a program to generate the 286 possible soultions. But.. if the password is not an actual word, how can i know which of these 286 is the right answer? Should i brute-force, should i be looking for some more hints in the image (regarding the parameters of the cipher) or i'm on the wrong track?

I would suggest going trough the steps you did and looking _a bit_ more in depth into them.
Or you can just try going trough one by one of the passwords you got

yep and if you really know the cipher and you have the key- and i mean the actual key not something that looks like text in the image source XD then it shouldn't be hard- especially when other people have already made programs to crack it- Thank google later

Now... to figure out what to do... I have some ideas... from the text, and a quick look at the image, I see its a bit... One Sided... Ill go off that.
