Cain and Able style tool on Ubuntu - Linux?

Hey guys - first post here so bear with me...

Ok, so I am trying to complete one of the realistic missions, and am looking for a tool on ubuntu that can preform cracking functions - has anyone used one? and recommend one?

depends on what you're doing with it
if you're looking for a md5 hash cracker just type it into google
there are some web based crackers that will work for you (although im not too positive how well they work, but its worth a shot)

Without giving too much away, i am looking for a md4 hex hash brute force attack function... which i know cain does, but cain doesn't work with wine on ubuntu so...

oh wait, i have never used it for this, but doesnt john the ripper do md4 hash cracks? (correct me if im wrong)
and i know it works on ubuntu

sudo apt-get install john
